Vodafone PAYT Outage

Hi Cellsite fans.

Our lovely friends at Vodafone have suggested that we pass on the following info to you.

Just to let you know that there is a planned outage of our Pay as You Talk (PAYT) System.

The outage is scheduled in order to enhance our customer management systems and enhance our customer experience. Below is a list of FAQs that will give you any details you may need during this time.

When will the outage be?
The outage is scheduled to take place on Saturday 8th November at 19:00 and will last until Sunday 9th November at 13:00.

Why are we doing this?
We are preparing for the switch from prepay system to one single system, this will allow Vodafone to manage both prepay and post-pay customers in a single system.

How will this affect our customers?
During this period, there will be a limited range of services available to Prepay customers. (Postpay customers are not affected by this outage).

How can I Top Up my Prepay Credit?
You will still be able to register a new payment method, however, customers will need to top up via the following methods;

* By automated Top Up using an existing credit or debit card
* By Voucher / existing eSwipe card
* Via a participating ATM

How can I bar my Lost or Stolen phone?
We are still able to bar your phone if lost or stolen during this outage period.

Why can’t I access My Vodafone?
The outage will prevent our customers from logging on or registering with My Vodafone services

Who will the outage affect?
The outage will affect all Call Centre, Online Support and our Retail Stores.

Thank you all for your patience whilst we update our systems.

We’re you a member of Locust back in the earlier part of this decade?

A former Locust User

There’s now a dedicated group on Facebook, especially for the old Locust Community.

Come along and join us, and help reunite the swarm.

Old Phone Tariffs

We were just having a pootle around Google, and came across this website giving a list of some of the old tariffs on Cellnet, Vodafone and the other non-favourite networks.

Cellnet Marketing Letter

Oh how funny.

This letter was found amongst some old bits and pieces, and made everybody in the office chuckle.

It’s an old letter from Cellnet from 1999.

Enjoy

Old KEB Peacehaven Customer Service Presentation

Here’s another little gem from the KEB era.

A presentation, compiled in Powerpoint, to keep customers happy whilst they were having to wait to be served.

It’s been converted into a little video now for you to enjoy, together with some tuneage from Ted Atking. The tuneage wasn’t on there originally as our MESH PC’s probably couldn’t've coped with sound!

Rufus Stone

As you’re heading along the A31 (either east or west) you can’t help but notice this beast sticking up from behind the trees.

We can’t remember exactly where it is, otherwise we would’ve included a little Google map for you.

Now we got bored today (12th July 09) and thought we’d try and find it on Google Maps.

We think it’s here.

Apparently, according to our system, these were taken on 11th November 2001.

Court Farm Barn

We just found these pics on an old CD from 2002.

They were originally taken on 14th August 2002 and are of a new install at Court Farm Barn, complete with rigger!

SIM card reader bargain

Ok so this isn’t strictly a mast or network thing, but it’s geeky and mobile related so we thought we’d write about it anyway. In any case it was such a bargain, we’re still excited by it.

We bought a SIM card reader yesterday from a charity shop in Westbourne, just outside of Bournemouth Town Centre. It cost the grand sum of 99p. Yes that’s 99p.

When we got back to the office, we couldn’t wait to install it…… and it worked!

It doesn’t do much, but lets you have a look at stuff on your SIM card.

We did find though, that our PAYT Sim Card has 64 Preferred Networks on it compared to only 50 on our contract SIM.

Picket Hill Revisited

Whilst down the South West on our mini break to Bournemouth, we revisited Picket Hill.
